Adventure | Rockport, MA

And here I am, the prodigal blogger returning. Also, this is no longer just a cooking blog. I'll share recipes here and there, but this is now primarily a place for friends and family to look in on our life since we live so far away from everyone.

We moved to Cambridge a few weeks ago, and have been loving it so far. It's incredible to be surrounded by so much of our nation's history. Everywhere you go someone famous lived or something important happened.

Last weekend we drove up the coast about an hour to a little town called Rockport. The rocky shorelines and various assortment of fishing and sail boats were taken right out of a book. We loved walking around the main street with the various shops, and of course we had to get a few samples of handmade taffy at this little sweet shop called Tuck's. They had a window to the room where you could watched them pull the taffy and wrap it. I didn't get any pictures, but it was neat to see. We also ate at this hole in the wall joint called Roy Moore Lobster Co. As we were standing in line for food they brought in crates of fresh lobster from the cape and dumped them into the water. We decided to get the lobster the next time and opted for clam chowder (Patrick) and baked clams and a fish cake (me). It was soooo good and fresh. I love living here if only for the deliciously fresh seafood to which we are now privy.

The neighborhoods filled with flowers, clapboard houses and sea mist created a dewy comfort that made me feel right at home. And the sea. There's something truly comforting and inspiring about sitting on the rocks, watching the tide come in and listening to the subtle clap and sucking of water  as it moves in and out with continual motion. Patrick and I sat on the rocks overlooking Rockport as the sun was starting to set, exchanging a few words here and there, but mostly allowing the calm of the sea lull us into tranquility.

And now, prepare for picture overload.
